Items:

1.)     Introductions, collection of personal emails

2.)    Choosing reunion Date

a.      It was decided unanimously to select the dates of Friday,

September 11, 2009, and Saturday, September 12, 2009, for the

reunion.

b.  Friday evening will be a meet and greet – we are looking into having the

high school open from 7 to 9 pm for a drop in and snacks/coffee.  Carole Patterson Newton will be checking with the high school as to availability and if we can do this.

c.      We have set up a committee to organize a family BBQ on Saturday

from approximately 11 am to 2 pm.

d.     We have set up a committee to organize an adults-only event on

Saturday evening, beginning at approximately 7pm.

3.)    Choosing venues

a.      It was mostly agreed that we should try to find all venues within St.

Albert (unless we got a smoking deal just outside of the city).

b.     Melanie McConkey Young and Derek Vanderkley offered to research

various places to hold the above events.  Chantell Perrott Ghosh has also been requested to assist in this research.

4.)    Entertainment/budget

a.      We discussed various ideas for the adult-only event, such as a dinner, drinks, video max dance, etc.  We determined that we would not have a dinner, but that we would serve a late lunch/appetizers (in order to keep costs minimal).  We did not decide on whether or not to have a video dance or a DJ or a band.  As more research is done, we will share this information together and decide which option is most cost-effective and reasonable.

b.     Cost/budget for the reunion could not be determined until all venues/events/entertainment is decided.  However, most members agreed that they would only be willing to spend up to a maximum of $50/family.

c.      We felt the need to assign a Treasurer, but due to people being on other committee’s, no one has taken this position as of yet.  We have approached someone that was not at the meeting to see if he would be willing to take this on.  Laura Woodward Maloney did agree to get information on opening an account for the reunion.

5.)    Review list of grads

a.      We reviewed the lists compiled by Kimberly Savoie Garner.  The first list indicated all the people that she, Audrey Lozinski Marple, and Don Santiago had contact with.

b.     The second list indicated people that could be contacted either through Facebook, or through other people on the first list.

c.      The third list was the number of people that are still needed to be found/contacted.  Several attendees of the meeting did indicate that they had the ability to contact some of these members.

d.     A people-finding committee was created, and these people will be in charge of attempting to find these other grads.  This list will be posted in the near future, so if anyone checking this website has contact with anyone on the list, please contact either Kimberly, Audrey, or Don asap.

6.)    Create Committees

a.      The first committee formed was the People-Finders:

                                                              i.      Grace Garcia

                                                           ii.      Carole Patterson Newton

                                                         iii.      Derek Vanderkley

b.     The second committee formed was the Venue Researchers:

                                                              i.      Melanie McConkey Young

                                                           ii.      Derek Vanderkley

c.      The third committee formed was the Family BBQ Event:

                                                              i.      Don Santiago

                                                           ii.      Laura Woodward Maloney

                                                         iii.      Kimberly Savoie Garner

                                                          iv.      Charmaine Brodeur Klassen

d.     The fourth committee formed was the Adults-only Event:

                                                              i.      Audrey Lozinski Marple

                                                           ii.      Derek Vanderkley

                                                         iii.      Melanie McConkey Young

e.      Kimberly Savoie Garner said she would try to create a better website, but if anyone is computer-savvy, and knows how to make a good one that could be found in a general search engine, please contact her asap.

f.      Jason Pepin was not at the meeting, but had indicated to the committee chairs that he would be interested in helping with something “artsy”.  He has been contacted to see if he is interested in the following:

                                                              i.      A “then and now” slide show of each grad;

ii.      A tribute to those who have passed away (currently, we are only aware of Rick Chalifoux and Roly Palardy.  If anyone is aware of any other grad that has passed away, please contact Kimberly, Don, or Audrey).

iii.      A viewing of the grade nine fashion show (Laura Woodward has this video, and will contact Jason Pepin if he is interested in setting this up).

g.      A treasurer is still required.  Laura Woodward Maloney said she will get information on how to set up an account for this event, but as she is already on other committees, did not want to head this up.  A name was suggested, but as this person was not at the meeting, we did not commit him to take charge of this.  He has been contacted to see if he is interested.  If anyone else wishes to take this on, please contact either Kimberly, Audrey, or Don.

7.)    Final comments

a.      Kimberly, Audrey, and Don want to make it clear that we will process all information, but that ANYONE that wants to help plan this reunion or join any committee is more than welcome.  It was stated that there would be chairpersons for organization sake, but as many people as possible were needed for a smooth reunion.  This is a huge undertaking, so anyone that was not able to make it to this meeting, but still would like to do something, please contact either Kimberly, Audrey, or Don.  Their emails are as follows:

Kimberly:  [email protected]

Audrey:  [email protected]

Don:  [email protected]

b.     The next meeting date was not determined, but will likely be either  late March or early April.
